Cheap Website Design That Looks Cool

What everyone who is designing a website wants to achieve is pretty much the same thing; a cheap website design that looks like an expensive professional site.  Whilst you may not be able to produce a news site to compete with the BBC, or an eCommerce site to compete with the likes of Amazon, I want to show you that cheap website design doesn’t have to mean a bad website.

We are going to be looking at three imaginary websites. All of these will be cheap website design projects, but all three of them will look great, as if they had thousands spent on them.

Cheap Website Design Scenario 1: A Blog.  In just a few minutes you can produce a blog that will look like a pro news website.  I kid you not!  And in just a few minutes more you can populate it with hundreds of articles, yes again, I kid you not. All on a cheap websitye design shoestring budget.

Step 1: Install WordPress on your server.  Most website hosts provide a one click setup method of doing this.

Step 2: Download an ultra cool theme for your WordPress site. This is done via the Appearance section of your blog whilst logged in as admin.
Step 3: Install a plug-in called wp-robot.  By giving this a few keywords it will go off and find thousands of websites to stream content from, and populate your blog.

There you go, three simple steps and a cheap website design budget of £0

Cheap Website Design Scenario 2: An eCommerce website.  So you want to sell stuff online, but you want to have a cool looking store.  Again, I’m going to give you three very simply steps to follow;

Step 1: Choose a backend product.  I would suggest OSCommerce or Magento.  Both are free and can be auto-installed at most decent hosts

Step 2: Download a theme for your store

Step 3: Fill your store with cool unique content and watch Google follow
Cheap Website Design Scenario 3: A general HTML website.  Now you really are in luck, because the internet is full of free material to create your website with.  People make a hobby out of creating website templates, so that you can have a cheap website design budget.

Just Google for “website templates” and find one that fits your niche.
And that’s all there is to it.  Remember to choose a host that includes free installation of common backbends, such as Magento, WordPress & OSCommerce.  Make sure that you host doesn’t block lots of the scripts which certain themes and plug-ins might require, and always make sure that perform a regular backup.  Remember a cheap website design budget can go through the roof if you end up wasting time rewriting a site you didn’t back-up.
