Website Design Ideas – Sneaky Stuff!

Article by Lawrence Stainbank

The best way to get website design ideas is to be sneaky! As in most things in life see how the best in your field operate and copy them. As far as website design is concerned it would be more accurate to say ‘inspired’ than ‘copy’.

Every page on your site should be designed around a carefully researched keyword phrase so, you must ask yourself, what do the landing pages of the leaders in this particular niche look like ?

Enter you keyword phrase into the Google search bar and analyze what comes up in the ‘natural’ searches. The sites that appear on the first page of the results are there because Google feels that they are the most relevant. Check out all the top sites and look at them in the way your prospective customers would — what makes them so relevant to the keyword phrase and why are the most visually appealing — well appealing.

There are certain key elements of website design that every web page must have if it is to stand any chance of making it to page one of the search engines.

* The page name and title must be, or at the very least contain, your keyword phrase.

* The page must live up to the expectations of the surfer, in other words if the keyword phrase was ‘how to darn socks’ then you better make sure that is precisely the information that is available on your page without having to click through to anywhere else on your site.

* ‘How To Darn Socks’ must also be the H1 tag. An H1 tag screams at the search engines ‘Hey — this is what this page is all about’. It is a very simple matter to turn your headline into an H1 tag using your website building software or, to give it it’s boringly accurate name, html editor.

* If the aim of your page is to get someone to click on an affiliate link or place an order then don’t confuse the issue by having AdSense ads on the same page, creating distractions is the last thing you need.

* If you have an ‘opt-in’ box that asks for their name and email address so that you can add them to your auto responder list then make sure that one example of the opt-in box appears above the ‘fold’.

* Most of your copy should be black on a white background using clear, unfussy fonts such as Arial. Verdana or Tahoma.

* Have at least a couple of pictures, some graphics and perhaps even a video. Video really is the way forward.

* Make the page essentially simple, clean and be crystal clear about what it is you want your web surfer to do – tell them!

* Get free software and, more importantly, free expert guidance.

Follow these website design ideas and you shouldn’t go too far wrong. Above all don’t fall into the beginners trap of having a page that is a mass of confusing type faces, colors, flashing copy and a dozen possible actions that can be taken which will more likely result in no action being taken at all!

10 Super Important Web Design Ideas

Article by Vikas malik

Web design ideas always come in handy, whether you’re thinking about a new web design or thinking of revamping and existing web design. Not all of them will work for your particular website but the ones that do have the potential to help a lot.

1. Don’t make your website design complicated. Thin out the number of choices your user has to make on each page. Keep it simple and they’ll be able to find their way around easily. 2. Be clear on the purpose of your website. Often websites try to be all things to all people and they don’t do any thing well. Instead focus on a few core items and do them really well. 3. Use fancy graphics sparingly. Web design that relies on lots of graphics soon gets visitors tired. Although the fancy Flash intro is good the first time, it’s not so great the fourth, fifth and sixth times. 4. Make it easy for the user to get at the information they want. Don’t cover your web pages in lots of adverts, special offers and pop ups. Think what your visitors want and give it to them. If you want to monetise it then do it after you’ve won their trust, give and then take. 5. Visitors hate being forced to do anything. So don’t make it a core part of your web design. Don’t make visitors sign up before you’ll allow them access to what they want. They’ll simply click the back button and go to the next site on their search engine list. 6. Supply your contact details everywhere. Make it easy for your visitors to ask you questions, to phone you, to email you and so on. If they can’t then they won’t trust you. 7. Give away free stuff. Although good web design is important it’s not the only thing that matters to users. Give them the information they want for free and they’ll come back over and over. Once they trust you then they’ll buy from you/subscribe etc. 8. Give excellent support. Again this is something to complement good web design. There is no point in having a great website and poor visitor interaction. They’ll come once and never return. 9. Review all your graphics. Make sure you don’t have too many graphics on a page and that those that are there are reduced in size. Smaller images load faster and so get your visitors to the website faster. A big deal for those on dial up connections. 10. Pick a clear font and make it black (or dark) on a white (or light) background. Don’t get tempted to “do the fancy graphics”. Just because it’s there doesn’t mean you have to use it.

Getting a web design is easy. Incorporating all the things that need to be thought of isn’t. You can’t rush good design. It takes time and rework. Go over and over your web design tweaking and changing. Never stop and constantly look for new ideas. When you can afford it get in professional help. This will allow you to focus on building the site instead of trying to become an expert in web design. For more information please visit:-> Web marketing company India .

Great New Website Design Ideas for the Web Designer

Article by Beth Swanson

The latest fashions for web design seem to change with the seasons. New technologies mean that there are always new ways of doing the same things, usually easier than before and more attractive to the visitor. Where a few years ago the average web user would have been impressed with a Photoshop picture on your homepage, now it takes a lot more to impress them. These are some of the latest trends for homepage design.

New Technology Trends

The last few years has seen a big rise in the use of mobile and tablet devices. These allow Internet access from anywhere and give more ways of interacting with the user than normal computers. Touch screens and motion detection give you more control options than a simple mouse is ever likely to. Not surprisingly, it’s a great deal of work to update web sites for these new devices.

One of the great new website design ideas is those strange little barcodes popping up on some websites. These barcodes are actually called Quick Response, or QR, and are a great way to draw attention to your mobile website from anywhere. Take a photo of the QR in your mobile phone camera and your phone will go to the website associated with it. You can even embed it in your normal website to divert mobile users to your mobile platform. This is a great way of attracting visitors to your mobile web site.

The use of CSS3 and HTML5 has really taken off recently. These new standards are being used to take away some of the content that has typically been done with Adobe Flash. Ideally both programs have different strengths and should be used in conjunction for the best results.

New Design Trends

There have been several trends in homepage design over the last year, but one of the most striking is the use of a large photographic background for a webpage. Using a great image as the backdrop really makes a great impression on the visitors to your site. The key is to make sure that the image is relevant to your content. No matter how nice a photo looks, it is no use if it’s completely out of bounds with the text content of your site.

Another web design trend is the increased popularity of a cut-down color palette on a website. By limiting the color palette to two or three colors and making the primary color something other than black or white you can really make your website look great. Use different shades of your main colors to really make your message stand out.

There have been several new ways of scrolling around a website that have become popular recently. These include using parallax scrolling and depth perception to give the appearance that the site works in three dimensions. These aren’t quite as good as you would get in the cinema, but are as good as you’ll get until your computer has a 3D display.

Hopefully this has given you some great website design ideas that you can use to bring your website up to date and attract a whole load of new visitors.
